The ideal candidate will be committed to the immigration community and passionate about making a difference in their client’s lives. We are looking for a highly motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented, articulate and socially conscious individual to join our team. Exceptional writing skills desired. You will bring a number of skills to this job including:
(a) Ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, logically and succinctly (both verbally and in writing);
(b) Work with teammates in a professional and solutions-oriented manner;
(c) Disciplined adherence to best practices, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
(d) Ability to work both independently and under supervision;
(e) Basic knowledge of MS 365, pdf, excel, proficient typing;
(f) Have an innate love for zealously representing immigrants before immigration authorities;
(g) Ability to identify, analyze and research legal issues affecting the organization, and make recommendations to address the problem;
(h) A genuine interest in working with immigrants and victims of trauma.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Experience preparing USCIS and NVC applications including U-visa, VAWA, SIJ, Asylum, Family Petitions, Adjustment of Status, Waivers, USCIS appeals and motion.
- Provide zealous representation, conduct legal research, formulate legal strategy, conduct client interviews, appear before state and/or immigration courts or agencies
- Prepare for client meetings, consult with clients, create strategies and guide clients to provide necessary information and documentation to build strong cases. Manage cases from start to end and mapping timing from start to end.
- Draft and file court pleadings and applications for relief.
- Review and conduct quality control of completed applications.
- Draft legal briefs, and review supporting documentation for immigration relief.
- Knowledge of immigration law and procedure.
- Law Degree with current authorization to practice immigration law.
- Active bar membership;
- Must be licensed to practice law by the highest court of any state;
- Experience no is required. Is a plus if you have representing clients, and appearing before the Immigration Court and at US Citizenship & Immigration Service offices.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus bui no is a required;
- Handling of case management system Lawlogix;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
