🚨 If you live in Nashville or nearby, you’ve probably heard the news. In recent days, more than 100 people have been detained in raids organized by ICE and the Tennessee Highway Patrol—yes, the ones who are supposed to stop you only for speeding!
Literally: over 500 traffic stops, people arrested, families torn apart, entire communities in panic. Many Latinos were detained without even knowing why. Their ‘crime’? Looking Latino. Speaking Spanish. Having a face that ‘doesn’t look American’. 💔
This is happening in areas like Nolensville Pike, Harding Place, and further south of Nashville… places where our communities live, work, and dream.
Let’s be clear: even though it’s not the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s (THP) job to arrest people for immigration status, they are doing it in collaboration with ICE! 😡
They claim these are ‘safety operations’, but the truth is they are overstepping. They’re using minor infractions as excuses to stop people… and if something seems ‘off’, ICE joins the game.
🎯 Important note: THP shouldn’t arrest for immigration status, but they are doing so under agreements with ICE. That makes it even more unfair.
Hurt. Afraid. Outraged. Many are afraid to even go out for basic needs. Schools are alerting parents. Even Nashville SC fans protested in the stadium with signs that read: ‘Not all of us are here’.
Yes, the community is responding, but the fear remains. Our hearts race every time we see a patrol car or hear a siren. Who will be next?
